What is ASEANpreneurs?
ASEANpreneurs is a youth run international organization dedicated to promoting entrepreneurship in the ASEAN region. Budding youth entrepreneurs and leaders from the ASEAN countries use this platform to carry out exchange of business ideas and culture, check on the latest events and developments among ASEAN countries, seek mentorship and advice, make new friends, build professional networks, and search for potential business partners. Headquartered in Singapore, this network is maintained by both NUS Entrepreneurship Society and students from leading ASEAN universities.
VISION
To be the largest youth run organization nurturing leadership and entrepreneurship in the ASEAN region
MISSION
To inspire youth and cultivate entrepreneurship in ASEAN region by facilitating youth exchange and providing a platform to share business ideas, promote culture, and develop professional network
WE HAVE A DREAM...
An economically vibrant and prosperous ASEAN region, where the innovative minds of ASEAN youth come together to realize the stake they have in the success and development of the ASEAN. ASEANpreneurs is a youth movement committed to promoting entrepreneurship in the ASEAN region. We liken entrepreneurship to a seed - a seed that we must plant in the hearts of the ASEAN youth. We seek to nurture these seeds by creating a platform for our ASEAN youth leaders to increase understanding and interaction among one another, and for them to share, grow, and make ideas bloom

Sight Seeing to PETRONAS Twin Tower
The 452 metre tall, 88-storey PETRONAS Twin Towers are acknowledged as the tallest twin-buildings in the world.
The design patterns and materials incorporated into the Towers design reflect the national identity of Malaysia. Furthermore, the unique double-deck sky bridge standing at 170 metres above street level with its arch support form a symbolic gateway to the city centre.
Culture Visits to Felda Best Homestay
A family is built on four important values which are honesty, tolerance, love and tradition: the very essence of a Malaysian Homestay. A place without confined spaces, fences or brick walls made to divide a society, where kinship knows no boundaries.
The enthusiasm and selflessness of an entire village coming together made delegates Homestay an experience unforgettable.
The ASEANpreneurs Idea Canvas 2011 is an ideas development competition. It showcases the entrepreneurship scene in ASEAN and celebrates the spirit of enterprise. This competition is open to all students in ASEAN with the goal of being the catalyst for launching start-ups while assisting budding entrepreneurs to realize their potential. This competition also encourages out of the box thinking, where participants will get the chance to propose their business ideas to solve problems faced in our daily lives.
Over the past few decades, South East Asia has developed and modernised into a politically and economically stable region. Despite its economic growth, disparities exist between the high-income and low-income sections in society. This is where small firms and start-ups play a vital role in narrowing the income gap.
Given the fact that the youth comprise almost half the population of ASEAN, it is this group which will spearhead change in ASEAN. For this change to occur, there is a need for a resource hub for the ASEAN youth to turn to.
ASEANpreneurs hopes to be this resource hub for entrepreneurship in the ASEAN region and the ASEAN Idea Canvas is one of our steps in this direction. Through this, ASEANpreneurs hopes to create a group of talented youth, passionate about entrepreneurship in ASEAN, propelling the ASEANpreneurs dream forward in their countries and communities.

The ASEANpreneurs Youth Leaders Network held its first event of the year called The Next Big Thing: ASEANpreneurs! (TNBT) on 21st October, 2009 at the Hon Sui Sen Auditorium, National University of Singapore. The event serves to kick-off the awareness campaign being organized by the ASEANpreneurs team to promote the ASEAN brand of entrepreneurship.
The event featured a panel with Ms. Audrey Ottevanger, Growth Enterprise Segment Leader for Mercer Singapore; and Mr. Lawrence Kim, Managing Director for Ebenezer NDT Services. Mr. Kim is entrepreneur who started his first business at the age of 17, while Ms. Ottevanger works for a firm that does consulting for entrepreneurs. The two panelists complemented each other as they started off the discussion by focusing on the essentials of being an entrepreneur. This then served as a framework for defining what the ASEAN brand of entrepreneurship is. With the audience having an idea of what ASEANpreneurship is, the panel then concluded with the two panelists commenting on the hidden opportunities awaiting entrepreneurs in the ASEAN market in other words, why ASEANpreneurs is the next big thing.
Apart from this, the call for applications for the ASEANpreneurs Youth Leaders Exchange (AYLE) was officially opened. AYLE is an annual exchange programme organized by ASEANpreneurs to expose the youth of ASEAN to the emerging markets and industries in the different ASEAN countries. This year, AYLE would be held in Jakarta, Indonesia from December 7-13, 2009.
TNBT also featured a lucky draw portion, where three members from the audience got the chance to win an iPod Touch, a Sony PSP and an iPod Shuffle by filling up a survey form distributed before the event started.
TNBT was sponsored by the Institute of Southeast Asian Studies (ISEAS) and the event was appreciated by all those who attended.
